Pet Fashion Week

August 27th, 2008 at 3:13 pm

I was in New York for Pet Fashion Week and just got back with lots of goodies for the Pugs. It was super fun this year because they had lots of Pugs in the fashion show. They were so cute! Who says models have to be skinny?! I didn’t bring my nice camera so this video quality is not great. Since the show lasted 45 minutes and I can only upload short videos, I just included the first 3 minutes. This year, I had a blast because there were so many Puggers and other big dogs in the show. Usually it’s more tiny dogs, which I also love and adore, but then it’s hard for me to get excited since none of clothes would fit my Pugs. But not anymore…so stay tune since Porky & Brownie will be modeling a lot of hot new styles! Enjoy!

Cherry Birdie Dog Tee

August 19th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

I just got this Paris Erotica Cherry Bird Tee for Brownie. Since Brownie is a bit chunky now, we had to special order the size XL for him. Doesn’t he look so cute? I love this tee…it has a cool vintage feel to it with its ironed on felt embellishments. And I like the red color on him, too. While taking these photos, I realized that Brownie has Pug man boobs…when he was running towards me, his front chest was jiggling…does anyone else’s Pug have man boobs? Porky is big but extremely sturdy and solid. It’s strange.

Meme: Adore Le Pug

August 13th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

After catching up with some old tags and learning what a meme is and reading a few of our friends, I decided to start our very own.

Rules: Obey the Pug, answer the following, and pass on!

1) How did you first learn about Pugs?

The first time was when I worked in a restaurant in high school, and one of our regular customers had a Pug.  They always left the Pug in the car while they ate dinner (this was on the beach so it’s nice and cool…windows opened of course).  After the husband ate, he would bring the Pug out for a walk and spoon feed the Pug!  Apparently this Pug had her own bedroom, fancy auto feeder, and was extremely pampered!  She was so sweet and funny.

2)  What made you get a Pug?

Read #1.  Maybe 10 years later, I still remembered that sweet Pug.  In fact, that family still visits that restaurant I worked at even till this day!  One night my husband and I were at an all night poker game and all the girsl brought their dogs…they were all small tiny dogs.  I was bored (not much for gambling when I am losing) and started playing with the dogs.  Something seriously clicked inside…perhaps my internal clock ticking and in need of mothering ad nurturing.  I have always had a deep fondness for Pugs (I had Pug tees, mugs, etc.).  My husband and I both adored Pugs so a few days later we got Porky.

3) Most memorable moment with your Pug (s).

WARNING: Do not read if you can’t stomach worm stories.

Let me start by saying Porky was my first dog.  The first week I brought Porky home, he had roundworms (I had no clue at the time what it was).  I discovered it in his poop and totally freaked out (understatement).  Late one Saturday evening, I noticed some spaghetti looking white thing in his poop.  I start investigating and then screaming.  Prior to Pug ownership, I was a neurotic type A, anal person.  My house was more like a hotel and impeccably clean.  So as you can imagine, I freaked out big time.  Then I discovered a long thick piece of spaghetti (uummm..worm) sticking out of his butt…area.  It was nearly midnight and not exactly an appropriate emergency topic plus either way, I had to figure a way to remove it or touch it to get Porky into the crate to the emergency Vet.  So I got a bunch of huge Bounty towel paper, yelled and screamed till I lost my voice, and went dirently for Porky’s butt.  The 10+ plus sheets of towels between my hand and Porky’s butt, I covered his whole butt, pinched, closed my eyes and then pulled (more like backed away from him).  I screamed and screamed…and then completely freaked out as Porky ran away from me…and this super long white spaghetti came out.  My legs weaken…I almost fainted and then completely lost my voice.

I have so many wonderful memories with Porky & Brownie but this one is definitely the most memorable…I wish it wasn’t!

4)  What is the most important thing Pugs (or dogs) have taught you?

Having my Pugs has taught me a lot about the simple things in life.  Prior to them, I worked long hours and work was my life.  Every minute of the day had to be spent on productive activities.  After getting Porky, I wanted to be a good pet parent.  There was a lot of anxiety issues and destruction because he was lonely.  I read up a lot and took him to puppy classes.  I spent most of my free weekends going to doggy meetups and socials/parties.  I learned to lighten up, relax and enjoy life, and most importantly, understand and learn unconditional love.  They love me unconditionally…and I love them.  They are my fur babies.

5)  Best Thing You Ever Did For Your Pugs….aside from loving them, keeping them healthy & happy, and giving them a great life.

This blog!  After moving to Houston from LA, I decided to take a break from corporate life.  I started this blog on blogger.com (now we have our own host with wordpress blog service) and met lots of doggy friends.  It can get super addictve to read dog blogs!  Hehe.  What started out as fun lead to a new career in the pet business!  I left my corporate career behind for a much simpler life.  I work at FunnyFur.com now with my two Pugs…yes, I get to bring them both everyday!  We also get to sleep in (I use to get up everyday at 5-6am!), go everywhere together, and come home early to have dinner with Dad.  No more working late into the night.  I always enjoyed working and being challenged, but as I got older, I realized spending quality time with family and friends is far more important.  We love our life!  (Thanks to the husband for working hard and giving us this great life…because my job only pays for the dogs’ clothes and treats now!)

6) Post your answers on why you “Adore Le Pug” on your blog and link to the blog who tagged you (or their blog post).

7)  Tag 5 or more other bloggers.

Since we started this, we tag all of you!

We LOVE the Reliant Dog Show!

August 9th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

The Reliant Dog Show in Houston was late last month…we are a little behind on the posting. It’s been one thing after another so unfortunately, we have way too many photos and not enough time to blog. Since I am behind, I will stick to the most recent event. Porky & Brownie had a blast at the Reliant Dog Show…this was our second time attending and even more exciting, we had a booth there for FunnyFur.com so the boys got to go hang out everyday for 4 days. We saw so many small dogs do neat tricks…it’s really inspirational. It was also great fun to see our friends from Pug Hearts – Houston’s Pug Rescue. Cindy and the wonderful volunteers have rescued 229 Pugs since they started in February 2007!

Our booth was across from the Pittbull Rescue so the boys got to meet some new friends…I didn’t have my camera handy…darn!

Here’s the booth.

Here’s Brownie hanging out in the aisle, greeting customers. :)

Brownie Waiting For Treats

Brownie had a lot of admirers at the show…he got more love than his brother. I think it’s just because he was wearing brighter colors. He was wearing his Marvel Hulk Hoodie and Captain America Shield Backpack.

BeBe, our Chihuahua Spokesdoggy was there, too. She was carried at all times since she is only 3 lbs and gets stepped on quite a bit. Since she is tiny, we have to be careful because people really want to kidnap her…she is the most outgoing little Chihuahua. She has no idea how tiny she is. BeBe was wearing her Hulk Hoodie, too. She is kind of kissing Porky in this picture…I think. Brownie does not seem to want to play. He is super lazy these days and just wants to nap.

Porky’s BFF Tanner came by to say hi and his Mommy bought him a new Rambo Army Cammo Dog Lead and Captain America Doggy Backpack to match Brownie…or her very blue shoes. The blue shoes really stand out with the Captain America backpacks. That’s his new Moss Green color Buddy Belt Dog Harness…we really want to get two new colors for the boys…they have had their black ones forever and it’s getting a little boring. This harness works the best for Pugs and last forever.

I was trying to get a picture of the boys all playing together but they kept moving. Erika, Tanner’s Mom, tried to round them up with no luck.

So of course I had to bust out the treaties…all eyes are now on me!

I think Porky wants a backpack…soon. Brownie usually gets all the new toys and clothes because he likes dressing up and loves plush toys. He just goes ga-ga for toys and fruits. Everyone thinks that Brownie wants to be a vegetarian. Porky just has one love…FOOD…any and all food, no discrimination.

More pictures of Tanner. He is so handsome! I almost got a Boston Terrier or Bulldog but then I saw Brownie and could not resist his chocolate charm.

Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures! We had a ball and it tired all of us out!
