Another Rainy Day

July 2nd, 2010 at 5:51 am

Brownie hates it when it rains. He refuses to potty outside. He is such a big baby and wants to go to work with me.

Long Time No Blog

April 8th, 2010 at 7:48 pm

Sorry we have been MIA. It’s been one thing after another. Porky had a bad paw jam and lost 3 of his nails (all the way down into his paw). We had to rush him to the Vet. Brownie had some demodectic mange and that took some time to heal. With all this going on and some family emergencies, we have been left with little time to unload pics and blog. We miss everydoggy and can’t wait to get back into the groove of blogging!

Here are some quick pics of the Pugs.

New Patio for Puggies

July 2nd, 2009 at 6:48 am

We have been saving for a very long time to do some work on our backyard. The Puggies really enjoy a lot of hardscape to run on and don’t care much to run in the grass (snobby Puggies!). We originally contemplated some type of track since the boys seem to really enjoy the dog run/track at our friends house, however, do the the shape of our backyard, it would take up too much space and probably not the best for return on investment since only those with animals would enjoy a mini track.

The husband and I decided to go with a paved stone patio, easy for the Puggies to run on and very popular in Houston. Here are before and after photos. We didn’t get up early enough to take before photos so I dug up some old photos from way back…what do you think?

eatBetter and drinkBetter Dog Bowls?

April 29th, 2009 at 9:11 am

FunnyFur.com just recently started carrying these eatBetter Dog Bowls and drinkBetter Dog Bowls.  This answered a calling we had…both Pugs eat fast. Real fast. Porky is a super fine diner with food but when it comes to water, it’s a whole different story.  He is a water snob and prefers the water to be at a certain level inside the bowl..if it’s too full, he will use his paw to “paw” out water till it reaches down to his desired level.  He dunks his whole flat face and little head into the water bowl and drinks a bowl at a time.

After drinking, he drips water over the entire bathroom floor (measuring ~200 sqft) and all over the bedroom and family room.  Once one of us seems him, we will get a towl and dry him off.  This is why you see newspaper under his bowl.  This drinkBetter dog bowl is suppose to help them drink slower and reduce the drippy mess.

After using this water bowl for three months, we have found that we have to refill the bowl a lot.  It did minimize the mess by our sloppy drinker, Pork. I think our expectations were too high.  We were hoping for significant reduction in mess…which was not the case.  Brownie made a little mess before and now does not make any mess.

Both Pugs finish eating their own food fast and try to eat the other one’s food.  This is why my morning “chores” take forever because I have to moderate and watch them.  We got the eatBetter Dog Bowls to help slow down the eating which is better for their digestion.

This is a big deal for us since Porky has had serious irritable bowl syndrome and still unknown causes for the month long bloody poo and puke every year.  It’s frustrating for us as pet parents and the clean up did not help.  Countless times throughout the night.  Porky moaned and cried in pain through out the night and could not stop going to his potty bin.  Countless test and visits to the Vet, thousands of dollars later, we still are not at ease as they could not find out why or what is the main cause.  It’s pretty to serious to have blood dripping nonstop from the butt (sorry for the graphic description).  I am hoping anyone with the same experience can help us.  And hopeful this bowl will help poor Porky’s digestion.

So far we have used these bowls for three months.  It’s not as easy to clean as stainless steel but the Pugs are eating slower.  We have not had any diarrhea or scary bloody stool (knock on wood).  So far so good.

Side note, since then, we have changed Porky to California Natural Herring & Potato formula food.  The poop smells left, has healthier texture, smells less deadly, and he has more energy.  Downside, he likes to have “midnight snacks” when we are sleeping and he has put on a little bit of weight.  Also, I mentioned Porky’s back legs dragging when he climbed up the stairs.  That has improved greatly since he changed his food.  I think the Omega 3 in fish diet is helping him boost his agility.  Oh, one more thing, we have been adding Forti Flora to his diet (thank you Lisa…you saved our nerves and poor little Porky’s life!).

Sorry…it seems that most of our recent posts are either graphic descriptions of poo or on these new products the boys got…we have been so preoccupied with their health problems that we try to find every product we can to help them.  For anyone in the same boat as us, you understand the desperation to help our animals be healthy and happy.

Puddles & Bebe Sleepover – Dinner Time (2)

February 27th, 2009 at 10:00 pm

It seems to me that Bebe (weighing 3 lbs) eats only slightly less than the Pugs and eats a lot of treats. It’s not fair that she can eat like a pig-let and not gain an ounce! At least her sister Puddles is an overweight Chihuahua (I love her…she was meant to be a Pug) who loves to eat. Puddles does not eat as much as Bebe and has been on diet food for…ever. Just like Porky and Brownie, she is destined to eat nasty diet food and stille overweight. Sigh sigh. We need to go for a walk!

Hello Kitty Instant Cup O Noodles

February 4th, 2009 at 4:47 pm

I am a huge fan of Hello Kitty…it is the brand ubiquitous with uber cuteness. It appears that Sanrio has licensed the face of Miss Kitty for everything…I have Hello Kitty dog clothes, a green Hello Kitty sewing machine, Hello Kitty pajamas, Hello Kitty slippers….so basically, lots of Hello Kitty stuff. Well, in my recent trip to Hong Kong, I had Hello Kitty ramen noodles. It was oh so delicious.

Playing Catch Up

December 18th, 2008 at 7:38 pm

Gosh this year has gone by so fast.  I took tons of pictures with every intention to blog about them…I even had the funny story lines thought out to add an extra pugly humor but atlas, no post to show for them.  In the past year, Porky & Brownie have visited Grandma and Grandpa for a month and we have gone to visit Germany, China, and a few states here.  It’s been so busy that my next new year resolution is going to have to be organizing this years pictures and blogging about them!

When we first moved to our quite neighborhood, there was only 3 homes in our cul-de-sac and we knew everyone’s names.  In a short two years, we now have 10 homes in our cul-de-sac.  In the last few months, we got neighbors right next to us (we did not have any for two years – it was all empty land) and one of them has two dogs.  They did a great job of decorating their home.  I love the alternating mint candy lights and snowflakes.  So cute.

Our other new neighbor a few doors down from me has two beautiful labs.  The yellow lab just gave birth and subsequently got spade as well.  Here they are saying hi to us when we were taking our morning walk.

I finally got around to making our holiday cards but unfortunately, have been too busy to send them out.  Since I reformatted my pc and lost my encryption ID (hard lesson learned – don’t password encrypt files if you are going to reformat your pc), I don’t have my excel list of everyone’s addresses.  One a PC is reformatted, it generates a new ID for the computer and so when you try to open an password saved encrypted file on a file hard, it will not recognize you.  I learned this after countless hours on Microsoft’s help website and tons of forums.  My professional and personal network list is all in my head less actual addresses.  Need to get cracking on that next year.  Meanwhile, here’s our holiday card…can you guess which Pug is this? This Santa Dog Suit fits Puggies very well.
